from the ancient Greek adámas, meaning "proper" or "unalterable" (please correct me if i am wrong)this word depicts one of the hardest substances on our planet. it is four times harder than the next harder natural mineral corundum (sapphire and ruby). and the diamond has four directions of cleavage, meaning that if it receives a sharp blow in one of these directions it will split. if you study its chemical properties, you will see that everything recommends the diamond as the ultimate gemstone.
i once taught a class where we read an article about marilyn. then, recently, a friend of mine, who is an actress, starred in a one-woman-show called simply marilyn. all glamour, all love. why is it that diamonds attract women or why do women attract diamonds? or both? is it because diamonds give women the shine they think they lack? or are they best friends in the sense that after we get them, they stay with us forever, while people can exercise their free will and walk away ? why do men give women diamond rings? and are they really a girl's best friends?
one last question: how much of love is glamour or viceversa?
